Gia Ciambotti
Gifted Vocalist
Smokey, soulful and authentic, Gia Ciambotti is a
natural! As a native of California, Gia was exposed to
many styles of live music at an early age, her father
John Ciambotti was a founding member of Clover, a
Bay Area band of note. Gia’s musical influences span
from the Staples Singers, the Spinners and Otis Redding
to Elvis Costello and Nick Lowe (John Ciambotti played
bass and sang bg’s on My Aim Is True and Pure Pop For
Now People). After relocating to downstate Illinois
(Champaign), she began performing live with a band,
playing covers and originals, and was introduced to
studio recording. There she knew she had found her
calling.
Gia’s move back to her birthplace, Los Angeles,
provided her with the opportunity for greater exposure,
which has led to a very diverse musical career. Be it
live or in a studio with such notables as Bruce
Springsteen, Lucinda Williams, Rod Stewart, Celine Dion,
Natalie Cole, Moby, Joe Walsh and The James Gang,
Badly Drawn Boy, Macy Gray,
CHICAGO or Little
Richard, Gia delivers a distinct sound that keeps her in
demand. Gia has the versatility, style and power to
draw you in and capture your soul.
Enhancing the work of so many others’ musical
projects, Gia has also written and co-produced her
own brand of intimate and immediate songs delivering
a raw sweetness, that only Gia can. With her album,
“Right as Rain”, Gia draws you into the moment without
sense of time or space, with a distictive groove,
provided by Herman Matthews on drums, John
Ciambotti on bass, Doug Pettibone on all stringed
instruments, Mike Thompson on B3 and Ned Albright on
Wurlitzer, as co-writer and producer. Her vision for
music and independent artistry puts her in a new wave
of artists with the experience and seasoning to forge
music into an era of songs which speak directly to
upliftment, recognizing and empowering our own soul’s
journey.
Gia performs her original music all over the Southland
in New Thought Spiritual Centers, while also providing
lead and background vocals in studio and live in
several bands. Gia also teaches voice and
performance technique as part of the faculty at Los
Angeles College of Music, and privately

- In 1992, Gia Ciambotti joined Bruce Springsteen as a backing vocalist for his Bruce Springsteen and the "Other Band" Tour. Since then she has worked as a session singer for artists such as Lucinda Williams, Natalie Cole, Chicago and others. She also performed with a group called The Scarletts (who were originally called BooBoo Fine Jelly).
In 2004, she released her first album in collaboration with Ned Albright. Snowflake is a collection of traditional and original lullabies for children. 2007 saw the release of her first proper solo album, Right As Rain.
She is the daughter of bassist John Ciambotti of the band Clover.
Her father, John, was known for his work with Elvis Costello and his unique work as Chiropractor to the Music Biz from an office in Toluca Lake, Calif.
Note from Don of Don & Gingers Adventures in Live Music: Ginger and I have enjoyed Gia's extraordinary vocals as a part of our favorite New Orleans-style band, "Phatback Earl & Me!".

At right is a special treat with Gia singing backed by one of my favorite Guitar Players - Joe Welsh.
Here is an Interview from around 2014 showing Gia's Love of the Spiritual Component of Music that Holds the Universe Together and speaks to us even when we are in our Mother's Womb.
