Whisky a Go Go

Whisky a Go Go is the legendary rock club on the Sunset Strip in West Hollywood, at 8901 W. Sunset Blvd. It opened on January 16, 1964, and is widely known as one of the key launchpads of the Los Angeles rock scene.

Why it matters:

It has hosted major acts across decades, including The Doors, Janis Joplin, and Led Zeppelin, and it’s still operating as a live venue today.

  • The venue describes itself as an “anchor on the Sunset Strip,” and its current official site still lists ongoing events and ticketed shows.

  • It was designated a historic landmark in West Hollywood and inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame as a venue.
